Siberian larch is a beautiful softwood, grown in the Baikal region of Russia. The Baikal region has vast stands of natural old growth forests which produce some of the finest softwoods in the world, including Angara pine, Siberian cedar and larch, spruce and fir. This region has very short growth seasons so the timber products from this region are exceptional for strength, hardnesss and durability. Siberian larch has a light, uniform cream color, ideal for decking.

Siberian larch has rare qualities that make it ideal for decks and flooring. It is naturally resistant to insect infestation and water damage because of its high natural resin content. It is not necessary for this species to be pressure treated, so it comes to you as a natural alternative to pressure treated decking products commonly found in the US. It is extremely slow growth, with growth rings from 10 to 50 to the inch, making a very dimensionally stable deck board. Siberian larch is a dense timber, with a hardness and strength that exceeds many competitive decking alternative boards.

With Siberian larch’s density and resin content, this unique species has been very difficult to dry and process. New, modern dry kilns and processing equipment installed at mill sites only in the last ten years, have made it possible to make this new and exciting timber available to the consumer. Siberian larch has been sold to the European markets for years. Now, it is available in the US!

Due to its’ natural resistance to decay, insects, and water damage, Siberian larch has been used in Russia in home and church construction with life spans of hundreds of years. A large number of structures in ancient Venice, Italy, including water contact pilings and buildings were constructed using Siberian larch. Architects in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Austria and Japan are specifying Siberian larch for new construction of residential homes and commercial spaces.

Yes, our production is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified! We harvest sustainably, and responsibly. We do not clear-cut, but selectively harvest the right logs from a vast forest.
